• Resident of Montgomery County since 1947
• Graduate, University of Maryland
• Attended first class of Montgomery College
• Graduate of Blair High School
• Served three years in the US Army, including one year studying Chinese at the Army Language School
• Three grown children, all of whom have graduated from Montgomery County Public Schools, and four grandchildren, two of whom live in Montgomery County and attend Montgomery County Public Schools
